Set up a Library in Garhi, New Delhi, India in 2009-10
Furthering its Pathshala initiative in Garhi (New Delhi, India), Child Literacy plans to build a library for children 3-18 in the same neighborhood, in affiliation with its Indian affiliate AVJM. The library will provide further learning opportunities to the target group of children. The estimated cost of the books in the library is US$ 2,000. Sponsor another 500 Children to School in India in 2009-10
Child Literacy affiliate AVJM plans to sponsor education for another 500 children in India in the school year 2009-10. This is in addition to retaining the existing children sponsored by Child Literacy and its affiliates in the schooling system. New project locations include Bangalore, Karnataka.
Build a School in Uttar Pradesh, India in 2009-10
Plans to build a school that will provide education to over 300 children is underway in Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh, India. AVJM, Child Literacy's Indian affiliate, has already acquired the land and is currently in the process of raising funds for the purpose of construction of the school. Sahaspur is shown on the map of India here. Child Literacy in association with its affiliate My One School has already raised the requisite funds. The construction will commence in the 4th quarter of 2009 and is likely to be completed by the 1st quarter of 2010. School year begins in April 2010.

Build a School / Children's Home in Bihar, India in 2010-11
Along with our affiliate, My One School , Child Literacy plans to build a school/ children's home for victims of child trafficking, orphans and street children in Gopalganj, Bihar, India. The project will provide education to over 600 children and lodging and boarding facility to around 300 children, when fully complete. AVJM, one of Child Literacy's Indian affiliates, has already secured the land and is currently in the process of planning the details of the project. Gopalganj is primarily a rural district in Bihar and has a particularly high incidence of neglected children due to its proximity to teh highly porous Indo-Nepal border which is known for trafficking in human beings. The construction will commence in the 2nd quarter of 2010 and is likely to be completed by the 1st quarter of 2011.
